New Delhi: One more person was arrested in
connection with the sending of allegedly threatening and
filthy text messages to politicians, including Union minister
Shashi Tharoor.

Rohit Kumar, an employee of businessman Narender Khosla
who was arrested for sending the text messages, had allegedly
helped his employer to make forged documents to procure SIM
cards, police said on Saturday. Kumar was placed under arrest
yesterday.

Khosla, a manpower supplier, allegedly used documents
of a gym instructor Manick Verma to procure the SIM cards and
sent text messages with an aim to cause trouble to the latter
with whom he had a personal rivalry, police said.

The businessman told the police that he had a long-
standing affair with a girl and that he wanted to marry her
but the marriage could not take place due to opposition
from his family members.

"He was married to another lady in December, 2009. Later,
his former girl friend came in contact with Verma and an
affair allegedly developed between them. When Khosla came to
know about the affair, he became very jealous and decided to
frame Verma," a senior police official said.

Verma allegedly gathered personal details of Verma from
different sources, including the Internet, and got prepared a
fake driving license with the help of Rohit Kumar and procured
SIM card, the official said.

Using this card, he made an extortion call to a
Faridabad-based jeweller and asked him to pay Rs 5 lakh or
face dire consequences.

He also procured another SIM on fake IDs of Verma and
sent threatening and lewd SMSs to several prominent
politicians and MPs, including Brinda Karat, Sandeep Dikshit,
Rashid Alvi.
