New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday wished the nation on Diwali, describing it as a national festival in which all communities rejoice in amity and friendship.

In a statement issued here, he said the festival of lights is a harbinger of peace, joy, and prosperity.

"It celebrates the victory of good over evil, and the spreading of the light of learning," he added.

"It is a national festival in which all communities rejoice in amity and friendship and celebrate the solidarity of the nation," he added.

"May this Deepawali bring peace and prosperity to all the people of our nation and to the world at large," the prime minister added.

Diwali will be celebrated Wednesday.

I quote This is what the PM said ``May this Deepawali bring peace and prosperity to all the people of our nation and to the world at large,`` the prime minister added. The PM should have added one more sentance like ``Let the JANLOKPAL BILL BE PASSED ASAP and ALL THE SWISS BANK MONEY TO COME BACK TO INDIA WHERE IT BELONGS`` so may GOD BLESS US ALL.
