Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday held consultations with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and apprised her of the latest situation on the border in the wake of a step-up in terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Manmohan Singh was also present during the hour-long meeting.
"The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha (Gandhi) and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha were briefed about the current situation---diplomatic as also on the border", External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh told reporters.
He said the Prime Minister would also be meeting leaders of other political parties on an individual basis to brief them.
