Racist e-mails: 4 Australian cops sacked Melbourne: Four Australian police officers were sacked and disciplinary action initiated against 15 others in connection with the circulation of racist emails wherein they joked about the electrocution of an Indian.

While four have been sacked, one has been demoted, another five have been fined up to 3000 dollars and placed on 12-month good behaviour bonds for their involvement in the case.

Nine officers will front the disciplinary panel on October 12 and October 15, with six to be heard the following week, 'Herald Sun' reported today. Two officers quit rather than face the secret hearings.

Yesterday, top police officers were caught in a racist e-mail scandal joking about the electrocution of an Indian train passenger and suggesting that it could be "a way to fix the Indian student problem" in Melbourne.

The emails that were probed by the Ethical Standards Department's Operation Barrot contain pornographic, homophobic, racist and violent material.

The Victoria police officers circulated sickening video footage showing the death of the man, who was travelling on the roof of a crowded train in India, the daily reported yesterday.

Victoria Police had said that it would resume disciplinary hearings this week into the circulation of pornographic and racist emails within the force.

The newspaper said it was also discovered that some of the force's highest-ranked officers have been implicated in the scandal, which also involves pornographic material.

Three superintendents were nabbed during an investigation into the circulation of inappropriate emails through the police computer system. Several inspectors have also been caught.

State Chief Commissioner Simon Overland and Premier John Brumby had condemned the actions of the police involved.

Overland described the material as "disturbing, offensive and gross", while Brumby said the racist e-mail was "contrary to the views and values at the heart of the Victorian community".

INDIA SHOULD START THINKING OF BECOMING SUPER-POWER RATHER THAN VOTE-BANK POLITICS. INDIA SHOULD STOP CASTE AND RESERVATION POLICY. INDIA SHOULD FOCUS ON MERITS AND UPLIFTMENT OF POOR PEOPLE. INDIA SHOULD KEEP THE KEY OF FOOD. INDIA SHOULD BE THE SOLE DISTRIBUTOR OF FOOD AROUND THE WORLD. INDIA SHOULD SUPPORT AGRICULTURE. INDIA MUST PROMOTE AGRICULTURE AND SIDE BY SIDE DEVELOPMENT IN TECHNOLOGY. JAI HIND.

so you say Mr. Prakash that the sacking of officers is a solution to the problem? No! Solution is changing the general mentality of the people in Oz Land! Believe it or not! And accepted about the problems of CWG. But have you been man enough to accept the positives? The food is one of the best in any olympic event, the unbelievable opening ceremony, even better than Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. I live outside India and I know how the foreign media reports. Only the bad or the worse is reported but not the goods. Do you realise that there were real troubles (real, real human rights problems) in China but as it is, China banned foreign media from reporting anything, yes sir, anything. I was in China at that time and I know how strict it was. But, you see India, it not not allowed foreign media to report, but to report from 1 cm distance and whatever they want! Always easy to criticise but very difficult to praise, right Mr. Prakash?

P.S: Before you thing that I am supporting Messrs Kalmadi & Co, then please, I am not! I am equally critical of them and they have put my headdown in shame as well. But, I know to praise the best and criticse the wrong and not a unilateral criticism please!

This type of strict action can take place in a civilized country and shows that the values are more important than persons. The questions I have to ask the Indian people, can you do this in India with police officers, babus and politicians. The whole world is laughing at what we have done at CWG. A great fiasco. But will Kalmadi, Sheila, Gill, Reddy and Bhanot will be ever punished. No, the award of Bharat Ratna is awaiting them.
