New Delhi: J Gopi Krishnan of `The Pioneer`
and Udayan Mukherjee of CNBC TV 18 were presented Ramnath
Goenka Journalist of the Year Award in print and broadcast
categories respectively by Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday.

They were among more than 30 journalists awarded in
various categories.
While receiving the award, Gopi Krishnan, who got the
award for his investigative stories on the 2G telecom
spectrum case in the print category, said he dedicated the
award to his newspaper and its editor.

Mukherjee said the "pitch is too high" these days in TV
journalism and added that as the editor of his channel, he
tried to maintain a balance while reporting.

Ansari said Ramnath Goenka was "an institutional example
of good journalism" and "an exceptional personality" of his
time.
The awards were instituted by the Indian Express Group in
2006 to recognize the stories that needed to be told while
