New Delhi: Rich tributes were on Saturday paid
to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Parliament on his 129th birth
anniversary.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Leader of the
Opposition Sushma Swaraj and senior BJP leader L K Advani
offered floral tributes at the portrait of Veer Savarkar in
the Central Hall of Parliament.
Several MPs, former MPs, secretaries-general of the
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha T K Viswanathan and V K Agnihotri
were also present at the function this morning.
A booklet containing the freedom fighter`s profile,
published in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat,
was presented to the dignitaries on the occasion.
Savarkar`s portrait was unveiled by the then President
A P J Abdul Kalam in the Central Hall of Parliament House on
February 26, 2003.
