Bangalore: External Affairs Minister S M
Krishna said on Friday that the fact that Supreme Court`s order
striking down the appointment of P J Thomas as CVC was
"accepted without murmur" is "greatness of India`s democracy".
"...but without murmur, we have accepted that (the SC
order); that is a rule of law in our country; that`s the
greatness of India`s democracy", he said at a function here.
Speaking in the same context, Krishna said Executive,
Legislature and Judiciary should function within the
limitations of their respective jurisdiction, and if one
overstepped it, another would "impose its limitations", a
comment which appeared to be an oblique reference to the
appointment of the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
But, he later also said he would not like to comment on
the CVC appointment.
He was speaking after releasing a book titled "The Indian
Parliament - A Democracy at Work, authored by Dr. B L Shankar,
a state Congress leader, and Prof Valerian Rodrigues.
