Sergei Lavrov thanks Sushma Swaraj for helping Russians in Uttarakhand mishap

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj for providing immediate assistance to the Russian tourists who had met with an accident in Uttarakhand yesterday.

New Delhi: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj for providing immediate assistance to the Russian tourists who had met with an accident in Uttarakhand yesterday.

Meanwhile, Swaraj assured Lavrov that the administration will continue to provide all possible assistance to the victims.

A vehicle ferrying some Russian nationals to Gangotri in Uttarakhand, fell off the road at Bhagori village in Uttarkashi district and drowned into Bhagirathi river on Tuesday.

While two were killed, nine others got injured. However, one tourist is still missing.

Soon after the incident, the senior officials reached the spot and began rescue operation. Moreover, the injured were immediately taken to Jollygrant hospital in Dehradun.
