New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday issued a show cause notice to a senior police officer after noting that an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who was asked to probe the allegations of two prisoners having been supplied with arms to kill the then jailed Commonwealth Games Organising Committee officials, was engaged in some other work.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Chaudhary took a serious view of ACP Raj Singh, who was asked to probe the matter, being busy in doing other duties relating to "law and order arrangement".
"It appears that he is not having sufficient time to inquire the matter and he is being engaged with the duties in relation to law and order arrangement. Let show cause notice be issued to DCP (West) as to why the inquiry officer be not changed," the court said.
The court made the remarks after being told that the officer could not complete the probe due to his other official engagements.
Meanwhile, the court directed the DGP, Prison, to file a report on February one with regard to alleged beatings of the two prisoners who had claimed that they were supplied with arms to eliminate three former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee officials inside the jail.
Two Tihar inmates Amit and Nishant had on January 27 alleged before the court that they were beaten up by other inmates for making the claims.
The court is conducting its own probe into allegations of the duo that they had been given weapons by some Tihar jail officials to kill two Commonwealth Games organising committee officials who were then lodged in the high security prison on corruption charges.
The duo had in December created a flutter by alleging that they were supplied with the arms to eliminate CWG officials.
A knife was also recovered allegedly at their instance from the jail premises.
Three former CWG organising committee officials T S Darbari, M Jayachandran and Sanjay Mahendroo, who were then in judicial custody, are now out on bail in connection with the cases registered relating to corruption in organisation of the mega sporting event in October last year.
