Sonia Gandhi day dreaming: JD(U)

Patna: Congress will not be able to garner
much Muslims and Dalit votes in Bihar by appointing Meboob Ali
Kaiser and Union Minister Mukul Wasnik as state party
president and in-charge of party affairs respectively five
months ahead of the assembly polls.

``Congress president Sonia Gandhi is day dreaming about
making a dent in Muslim-dalit vote bank in the state by
bringing in a Muslim-Dalit combination to the state ... The
move will not work in Bihar,`` JD(U) national spokesman and MP
Shivanand Tiwari and state party president Vijay Kumar
Choudhry told newsmen here.

There would be no resurgence of Congress in Bihar under
the new team and the contest during the coming assembly polls
would be between NDA and the RJD-LJP combine, they said.

The change was effected yesterday.

Congress, they said, was riddled with `inner
contradictions` where ministers and the Prime Minister speak
in different voices.

The two leaders blamed Congress for the `pitiable`
condition of the Muslims and Dalits in the country and claimed
that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had initiated a number of
measures for their uplift during the four-and-half-years of
the NDA rule in the state.

They wanted to know from the Centre the reason behind
the suicide of over two lakh farmers in the past two decades
and steps undertaken by it to combat naxalism and terrorism.
