Tharoor`s deft handling of queries in LS wins Sonia`s nod

Shashi Tharoor, so far in news for many a wrong reason, was virtually on Cloud Nine in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Shashi Tharoor, so far in news for many a wrong reason, was virtually on Cloud Nine in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The Minister of State for External Affairs deftly handled tricky supplementaries on a question concerning attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul during the Question Hour.

The former United Nations Undersecretary General was at his articulative best prompting an approving nod from none other than Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, who was sitting next to Tharoor, was the first to compliment him and was soon followed by his Cabinet colleague Kantilal Bhuria.

Gandhi, seated in the first row, too turned around to nod approvingly at Tharoor.

Tharoor`s comments on social networking website "Twitter" on the government`s austerity drive had triggered a controversy prompting Congress to distance itself from the remarks.
