Ahmedabad: President Pratibha Patil today
advised women to "think over" before "posing" for
advertisements projecting them in poor light.

"Women should think over on restricting themselves
from posing (for such advertisements). They should think how
they can refrain themselves from doing so. If we women would
not do it, then such advertisements will not come," Patil
said.

The President, as part of her five day visit to the
state, went to the Gandhi Ashram here from where Mahatma
Gandhi stirred the freedom struggle after he returned from
South Africa.

Patil interacted with the girl students, besides
dedicating a `charkha`, which was handed over to her by
Kamalamma from Andhra Pradesh. It will be kept in the Gandhi
Museum as a part of a heritage collection.

In reply to a question asked by a girl student of the
Ashram on whether there should be restriction by government to
curb increasing sleaze in advertisement, Patil said, "There
should be government restrictions to some extent".

"But the bigger thing is every person has to think how
he or she wants to live her life. The advertisements are
coming as our women are ready to pose for them," Patil said.
