US Defence Secy Panetta meets PM, NSA

The Indian side is also expected to take up the issue of denial of dual-use items by the US to the laboratories under the DRDO.

New Delhi: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta on Tuesday met with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence 7 Race Course Road.

The meeting between Panetta and the PM is expected to last for more than an hour.

Panetta is here on a two-day visit during which the two countries will discuss a range of issues relating to their strategic partnership as also military trade.

Panetta will also meet National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon later today and Defence Minister AK Antony on Wednesday and deliver a lecture on `Indo-US Defence Relations` at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses. This will be followed by an interactive session and will be his only public event in New Delhi.

This is Panetta`s first visit to India since assuming office last summer and is the last leg of a nine-day swing through Asia.
