Washington/New Delhi: Following the unraveling of a new terror plot directed against India, the US government on Friday issued a fresh travel advisory to its citizens planning to travel to India.

“Department of State alerts US citizens to continuing security concerns in India. The US Government continues to receive information that terrorist groups may be planning attacks in India,” stated a notice on US Department of State’s website.

It further went on to warn: “Terrorists and their sympathizers have demonstrated their willingness and capability to attack targets where Americans or Westerners are known to congregate or visit.”

Reminding the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai, the advisory said that the incident “provided a vivid reminder that hotels and other public places are especially attractive targets for terrorist groups.”

It urged US citizens “to practice good security, maintain a heightened situational awareness and a low profile. Americans are advised to monitor local news reports and consider the level of security present when visiting public places, including religious sites, or choosing hotels, restaurants, entertainment and recreation venues.”

Earlier in the week, US investigating agencies have busted a plot by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-T0iba (LeT) to use an American national for a terrorist
attacks in Denmark and India.
