Want to contest Lok Sabha poll again: Tharoor

Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor Sunday said he wants to contest the Lok Sabha election again.

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor Sunday said he wants to contest the Lok Sabha election again.

"Having put in more than four years as an MP, I think I have been able to bring a difference and hence, if given a chance, I will contest again," Tharoor told reporters here.

In 2009, the former UN under secretary general contested from the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency and trounced Communist Party of India candidate Ramachandran Nair.

Tharoor was earlier made the minister of state for external affairs but following a controversy involving the Kochi IPL franchise, Tharoor quit the post in 2010.
"I resigned because I did not want any interruption in parliament. I know that many people did not like me as a politician because whatever I said or did turned out to be a controversy. But now I feel I have been able to change the lives of people here with my work as an MP," he said.

"I am the first MP in the country to come out with a progress card," said Tharoor who has more than one million followers on microblogging website Twitter.
