New Delhi: The war of words between
Samajwadi leaders and their estranged colleague Amar Singh
escalated today with one of them saying he is not giving up
his Raja Sabha seat, as demanded, for political benefit.

Amar Singh quickly hit back back declaring he was
capable of winning Lok Sabha elections from the seats held
by party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav`s kin, including son
Akhilesh, in Uttar Pradesh after contesting against them.

Reacting to party spokesperson Mohan Singh`s demand
that he should resign from Rajya Sabha on "moral grounds",
Amar Singh said, "I am not against Mulayam Singh and I will
not contest against him. But I am ready to accept the
challenge of returning to Parliament on my own.

I request Mulayamji to get the Kannauj and Badayun
seats vacated and I will contest against Akhilesh Singh (from
Kannauj) and nephew Dharmendra (Badaun)."

To a question on whether he would really contest against
Mulayam`s kin, Singh said, "there is no other option as too
much is being said against me in the name of Mulayam Singh
Yadav."

Mohan Singh earlier fired a fresh salvo at Mulayam`s
once close lieutenant even taunting him. "He (Amar Singh) has
been teaching everybody a lesson on morality but after his
refusal to quit it has now become clear who is moral and who
is not. I think it is his cleverness," he said.

"His political aim is to remain in some post through
some party and he has stuck to this motive of his. Politics is
not his real motive," Mohan Singh said.

On Amar Singh`s statement that seeking his resignation
was Mohan Singh`s personal comment and not the party`s view,
the spokesman said, "It pains me to say that when Amar Singh
was party spokesman, whatever he said, he used to present it
as the party`s point of view.
