Bangalore: The woman who was allegedly
sexually assaulted by a Karnataka Minister tonight filed a
complaint of rape and criminal intimidation against him with
the Director General of Police.

The woman, along with her husband Venkatesh Murthy, drove
to the residence of DGP Ajai Kumar Singh and filed the
complaint against Food and Civil Supplies Minister Harathalu,
who quit today following a media report which alleged that he
sexually assaulted a friend`s wife.

"He (the DGP) has assured that an inquiry will be
conducted," said Murthy, adding "he (Halappa) has done a bad
thing. He should be punished. It (the entire episode) should
not become an entertainment for the people".

The woman alleged that Halappa had threatened to kidnap
their children, while her husband charged him with holding out
threat to their life.

Murthy said they did not file the complaint in Shimoga
because they fear that it might be "dumped" because of
"political pressure".
