Washington: Social networking giant Facebook is reportedly bidding adieu to its @facebook.com e-mail service citing the reason that it is not used much by users.
Facebook has started sending mails to its users that they will no longer receive emails sent to their Facebook email address inboxes and instead, messages sent to their @facebook.com email address will be delivered to their Facebook Messages.
The email service was launched in November 2010, in hopes of providing one inbox where users could send and receive emails and messages, but it failed to catch on as Facebook never provided a familiar interface for emailing, including no support for cc`s and bcc`s or subject lines.
Last week Facebook acquired messaging service WhatsApp for $16 billion.
