New York: The Japanese photo craze hadouken, where people imitate midair fight from video game `Street Fighter,` is the latest meme to hit the Internet since the `Harlem Shake.`
In hadouken, participants click images of themselves where they imitate midair fight moves and then post the shots online.
The viral trend started with the schoolgirls in Japan, but has since taken on a life of its own.
The cast of the CBS drama ` The Good Wife` tweeted out a hadouken picture, so did the hosts of VH1`s ` Big Morning Buzz Live with Carrie Keagan .`
Hadouken, which is sometimes spelled as hadoken, literally means "wave motion fist" in Japanese and typically refers to the special attack used by various ` Street Fighter` characters, where the attacker thrusts their palms forward to send a surge of spirit energy blasting towards their opponents, the New York Daily News reported.
But as a meme, hadouken has taken on many different forms. Some people smash the ground to create a shock wave, while others just spread out their arms to send their energy in two different directions.
The only real rule to hadouken-ing is that one person must release their fantastical energy, while other people must react to that energy, and a third party should click snap an image to capture the moment.
The trick to taking the picture is timing, a skill that was not required for previous photo memes like planking or Tebowing.
