Agartala: The Tripura Government will set up
25 more Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state,
Industries and Commerce Minister Jitendra Chowdhury said
on Tuesday.
Government has taken this decision to solve unemployment
problems by providing vocational training to the unemployed
youths, Chowdhury told reporters.
The Union Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region
(DoNER) will partly fund the establishment of these new ITIs,
which would cost Rs.125 crore, he said.
Chowdhury said the new ITIs would be setup in interior and
tribal dominated areas.
With the new 25 ITIs, the total number of such training
institutes in the state would be 30.
There are six lakh registered unemployed youths in the
state.
