Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government on Saturday said it would take up with the Pawan Hans authorities
about "poor" maintenance of helicopters which led to the death
of a crew member due to fall from a flight in Arunachal
Pradesh yesterday.

Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu directed the state chief
secretary to take up the matter with Pawan Hans authorities as
as yesterday`s incident cannot be overlooked as a stray case
of technical snag when the door of a helicopter flung open
while airborne, ejecting the crew member Dhananjay Roy to his
death, a press release issued by the government said.

Khandu said the Pawan Hans helicopter service is
synonymous with civil aviation in the hilly border state which
has poor road density and if safety standards are not improved
by Pawan Hans authorities than the state government will be
forced to review continuity in availing the helicopter
service, it added.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor J J Singh also directed that
those found guilty of negligence are given exemplary
punishment.
