Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has urged people to be proud of their villages and land.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has urged people to be proud of their villages and land.

Addressing a public meeting at Anini yesterday on the first day of his two-day visit to Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts, he said people of Arunachal should feel proud as they are the sentinel of the country, a Raj Bhawan communique said here on Wednesday.

"Be rooted to your land, culture and traditions to preserve the age-old heritage of your tribe.Government will ensure that development reach to their doorsteps.If they are strong, whole of Arunachal Pradesh and the country is secured," he said.

He informed that with 'Frontier Road' in the pipeline and district connectivity road under progress, development will touch every part of the district which is bestowed with nature's bounty.

Citing 'Mishmi Teeta', a medicinal herb, the governor said that the district due to its climatic and topography has huge scope for cultivation of medicinal plant.

Highlighting on education, he said that special attention has to be given in this sector.

He urged upon the people to work together for wellbeing of the next generation and create favourable upbringing.

Exhorting the people not to depend solely on the government, the governor urged the people to help themselves in finding ways and means to address their challenges and problems.

He advised the people to avail benefit under Chief Minister's Health Insurance scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan.

Underscoring the importance of roads and other infrastructures for progress of the district and its people, he called for implementation of all projects as per specification and within time limit, the communiqu? added.
