Assam to vote for change: Jaitley

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday claimed that the people of Assam were "fed up with the corrupt rule" of the Congress and will vote for a change in the forthcoming assembly polls in the state.

Sibsagar: Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday claimed that the people of Assam were "fed up with the corrupt rule" of the Congress and will vote for a change in
the forthcoming assembly polls in the state.

"Corruption both at the Centre and the state has made
the people angry and they will definitely vote the party out
of power in the state," Jaitley, also the Leader of the
Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said while addressing a BJP`s
campaign rally at Darbar Field here.

The Congress has "created history by the level of
corruption in the 2G Spectrum case" where people are not even
able to count the number of zeros in the Rs 1.76 lakh crore
scam, he said.

"If Congress had spent only 10 per cent of money looted
in the 2G Spectrum scam in the development of North East, the
entire scenario of the region would have been different," he
said.

The BJP leader alleged that the Congress had done nothing
for the development of the region and whatever claims they are
making was actually initiated when the BJP-led NDA government
ruled at the Centre.

Assam is well endowed with oil, tea, coal and water
resources but the level of development is very low and as
people of the state should give a befitting reply to the
Congress on April four and April 11, he claimed.

He further alleged that the Congress government has
failed to understand the needs of the people and have done
nothing to solve the problems of erosion by Brahmaputra and
the issue of big dams which has posed great threat to the
region.
