Grenade attack at two politicians residence

Imphal: In separate incidents, suspected
militants hurled grenade and attacked the houses of two
politicians in Manipur, however, no casualty was reported,
police said on Saturday.

The suspected militants hurled a grenade at the house of
president of Manipur People`s Party (MPP) Nimaichand Luwang in
interior Yairipok Wangkhem area in Thoubal district on Friday night,sources said.

The grenade attack destroyed parts of the house, sources
said adding that MPP president was not at home when the
incident took place and his family members were in Imphal.

In another incident, the suspected militants hurled
grenade at the house of district Congress committee president
C H Inaoba at Heingang area in Imphal East district on Friday night.

No casualty was reported, however, some portions of the roof
of the house got damaged, sources said.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the
incident.

Earlier, a militant faction had said that they would
boycott the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections although
they gave no reason for it.

The next assembly elections are scheduled to be held in
February next year, sources said.
