Imphal: A militant was killed in an encounter
with security and police personnel in Imphal west district of
Manipur, police said on Monday.
A combined team of police and Assam Rifles rushed to
Canchipur area near Manipur university late last night and
found two persons on a two-wheeler moving in a suspicious
manner.
When asked to stop, the two fired upon the security men and
in the ensuing encounter, one of them was killed and the
second man escaped, the police said.
One 9mm pistol was recovered from the spot.
In another incident, a hardcore member of banned Kanlei
Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) identified as Moirangthem Oken (43) was
arrested from Kumbi area in Bishenpur district last evening,
the police said.
