Imphal: Three persons including the
vice-chairman of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council
(SHDAC) in Manipur`s Senpati district were kidnapped by
suspected militants, police said today.
SHDAC vice chairman Haokholal Hangshing, council
member Thangkham Misao and their friend Saikhulun Khongsai
were abducted from Hangshing`s house at around 10 pm last
night.
SHDAC sources said Hangshing supported by Misao had
recently moved a no-confidence motion against the chairman of
the council S H Seipu which was objected to by some members of
the council.
Police suspect Kuki militant outfit Kuki National
Front (Presidium) to be behind the incident but so far no
organisation or group has claimed responsibility for the
abduction.
