NIA chargesheet against top KYKL insurgent, others

The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against the self-styled army commander-in-chief of the banned Manipur-based insurgent group Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and his associates.

The chargsheet was filed before a court in Darjeeling,
West Bengal under various section of IPC and UAPA against the
seven accused including Ningthoujam Tomba, the commander-in-
chief, Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha Devi, Rama Chanu
Sorokhybam Menjor Singh, Neera Tamang and Kangujam Rabi Singh
(absconding), on September 8, a Home Ministry statement said.

NIA had on April 24 this year registered a case after
the arrest of Tomba along with his three woman associates
Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha Devi and Roma Chanu in
Darjeeling on March 14.

The NIA team conducted investigation at various places in
West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Delhi and Karnataka,
examined large number of witnesses and got forensic analysis
of several seized electronic gadgets and documents done.

"Investigation brought out that Tomba had established a
safe house and base camp for his terrorist activities in North
Bengal with the help of other co-accused persons Menjor,
Tamang and Kumar," the statement said.
