Imphal: As many as seventeen social organisations in Manipur today called for a 12-hour general strike on November 12 to protest the proposed visit of AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
In a joint statement here, they demanded that the Centre disclose the whereabouts of the chairman of insurgent outfit, United National Liberation Front, R K Meghen alias Sanayaima.

Some media reports had suggested earlier that Meghen (60) was arrested by a joint security team from Bangladesh and India from Dhaka in September, but this information has not been confirmed officially.
Congress sources said Gandhi will inaugurate a new market complex here during her visit on Friday. There has been no official confirmation in this regard.
