Three NDFB (Daimary) ultras held in Assam

Three NDFB (Daimary) insurgents were apprehended with arms by a joint force of police and army in Assam`s Sonitpur district, police said on Saturday.

were apprehended with arms by a joint force of police and army
in Assam`s Sonitpur district, police said on Saturday.

The trio were held when the the district police and
jawans of the 4th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Light
Infantry launched an operation at Maydungsire village
yesterday.
One 7.62 mm bolt action Japanese rifle and 15 rounds
of ammunition were recovered from them.

On interrogation the ultras said that they were
involved in a number of extortion and looting incidents since
2002, police said.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles confiscated 170 logs of
wood valued at Rs 1.7 lakh from Sirsabari. Police said illegal
trade of logs was being carried out by NDFB (D) to raise fund.

The seized wood was handed over to Dhekiajuli Range
Forest Office.
