The Tripura government will construct a museum on Bangladesh liberation war at Chittakhola in south Tripura district, officials said here today.

construct a museum on Bangladesh liberation war at Chittakhola
in south Tripura district, officials said here today.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni will lay the
foundation stone for the Rs 4.3 crore museum on September 16
next, they said, adding the museum will be a major tourist
spot and attract visitors from neighbouring Bangladesh.

Tripura Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury said, during the
Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, Chittakhola had functioned
as one of the 11 war fronts in Tripura where large number of
liberation soldiers were trained and sneaked to Bangladesh to
fight Pakistani army.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and a delegation of
Bangladeshi diplomats recently visited the spot to monitor the
progress of the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
