Women fail to enter Nagaland Assembly once again

Nagaland, where the first elections were held in 1964, has not seen any women representative in the House as of date.

Kohima: The two women candidates among the 185 aspirants in the fray for the Nagaland elections have lost out to their male counterparts once again.

Rakhila Lakiumong, the BJP candidate from Tuensang Sadar-II, and Independent nominee from Mokokchung Town Dr Yangerla were placed third.

Rakhila polled 4,193 votes and Dr Yangerla just 579 votes.
