Four Maoists held, explosives seized

Four hardcore Maoists were arrested and substantial amount of explosives and arms seized from them by security forces in separate operations in two districts of Orissa today.

arrested and substantial amount of explosives and arms seized
from them by security forces in separate operations in two
districts of Orissa today.

While two ultras were picked up from Pallapadu forest
of Gajapati district, two others were nabbed from Tekguda
jungles in Malkangiri during joint combing operations by CRPF
and the state`s elite anti-Naxal Special Operation Group,
official sources said.

Twenty-five detonators, huge quantities of fuse wire,
starters and a single barrel rifle were seized from the
left wing extremists arrested in Gajapati, district
Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Arora said.

The rebels were identified as Manas Majhi alias Laden
(30) and Giffio Pradhan alias Gullu of Adaba area in Gajapati,
he said adding Majhi was involved in torching of buses,
blasting of mobile phone towers and other cases.

Pradhan was engaged in collection and on passing of
information and providing logistic support to Maoists.

In Malkangiri, CRPF and SOG personnel raided Tekguda
forest in Kalimela area where ultras had set up a camp. Though
most ultras fled, two were caught, inspector-in-charge
of Malkangiri police station R K Pati said.

The two nabbed Maoists were identified as Bandi Sodi
(28) and Deba Madkami (25) of nearby Tekguda village.

Bandi had joined as a cadre about four years ago and
alleged confessed to involvement in several crimes including
attack on CRPF personnel and booth capturing during last
elections at Tekguda and Bejengeguda.
