Cuttack: The Odisha High Court on Wednesday asked the state government to file its reply in an affidavit within two weeks in response to the contempt petition filed by social activist Sanjib Das against a police officer.
The social activist in his contempt petition against former Madhupatna police station inspector Ranjit Prusty has alleged that he was arrested by him in July 2008 in contravention to the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court of India.
Moreover, to cover his blunders, the concerned police officer also allegedly made an interpolation of the case diary maintained by another police station, the petition said.
A single-judge bench of Justice M M Das had asked the Bhubaneswar DCP to conduct an enquiry and take action against the police officer involved in changing the entries of the case diary.
When the Bhubaneswar police informed the high court today that it was not possible to identify the culprit in the case, Justice Das asked the state government to file a reply.
