Heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface winds is likely to lash several parts of Odisha during the next two days due to formation of a well marked low pressure in the region on Friday.

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface winds is likely to lash several parts of Odisha during the next two days due to formation of a well marked low pressure in the region on Friday.

The well marked low pressure over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast would trigger rain and thundershower at most places over Odisha during next 24 hours, the meteorological centre here said today.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Maurbhanj, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Jajpur districts and heavy rainfall at one or two places over remaining districts of Odisha in next 24 hours, it said.

After 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in the interior districts including western districts of Odisha, the met centre said.

Gusty surface wind with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph and gusting up to 65 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha Coast, it said.

Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea.
