A vigilance probe has found irregularities in the construction of a road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Koraput district.

Koraput: A vigilance probe has found irregularities in the construction of a road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Koraput district.

Though the 1.5-km road from Naidalpalli to Pradhaniput under Kundra block of the district remains incomplete, payment has already been made to the contractor concerned, vigilance officials said

"During inquiry, we found that the road is yet to be paved with a blacktop," said Inspector (vigilance) S K Biswal. He declined to divulge more, saying that the probe was in its preliminary stage.

The Rs 8-lakh road work began in July 2012 and was to be completed by September 2013. Rural works department is the executing agency.

"The contractor has already been paid Rs 50 lakh," a vigilance officer said.

Junior Engineer K C Sahu, who is working on the project, refused to comment on the issue.
