Jajpur: The car of an official of Odisha's Kendrapara district was knocked down and killed a motorcyclist on the NH-5 at Chatia Chowk in Badachana area, a senior police official said on Wednesday.
Kendrapara Deputy Collector Shivani Mohanty was driving to Bhubaneswar in her personal car on Monday when the accident occured, Jajpur Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar said.
The car, which was in the name of Mohanty's husband, has been seized, but no arrest has been made so far, he said.
Though eye-witnesses claimed that Mohanty was driving the car when the accident took place, the SP said this was yet to be ascertained.
The accident victim was identified as 30-year-old Biswajit Mohapatra of Puri who was employed at a private steel plant near Dhenkanal, police sources said.
