Bhubaneswar: Amidst uproar, the Orissa
Assembly was paralysed over dal scam for the second day on Tuesday
with repeated adjournments as Congress MLAs stormed the well
demanding probe into irregularities in supply of pulses for
mid-day meal (MDM) and other schemes in all 30 districts.

The issue was raised by Leader of Opposition Bhupinder
Singh of Congress who accused BJD government of failing to
keep its promise made at an all-party meet about probe into
scam in supply of dal for MDM and supplementary nutrition
programme (SNP) meant for children and pregnant women.

As his Congress colleagues displayed placards
demanding a broader probe into the dal scam, Singh said the
government had promised to produce all information and
documents relating to the scam before the House, but it was
yet to do so.

Similarly, the state government was yet to widen the
purview of investigation by the anti-corruption vigilance
department to cover all the 30 districts of the state, Singh
said, adding the probe was still confined to five districts.

Angry over government`s failure to keep its word,
Congress legislators trooped into the well shouting slogans
and creating noisy scenes to press for their demand.
BJP members resorted to slogan shouting to attack the
government from their seats.

The House was adjourned several times as uproarious
scenes was witnessed repeatedly and appeals from the Chair for
restoration of order went unheeded.
