Orissa orders probe into undervaluation of land registration

The Orissa government has ordered an inquiry in some sub-register offices to unearth undervaluation of land registration, official sources said.

Berhampur (Orissa): The Orissa government
has ordered an inquiry in some sub-register offices to unearth
undervaluation of land registration, official sources said.

The land registrar and the additional district
magistrate of districts will conduct a joint inquiry in 11
sub-register offices in different districts to ascertain the
registration in the last five years and whether it has been
undervalued.
"We have ordered to inquiry on land deals in the
last five years and submit inquiry reports to the government
in 45 days, Revenue minister S N Patro said today.

The inquiry would be conducted in major sub registrar
offices including Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri,
Rourkela and Joda, he said.
The state government has taken the step after an
incident of undervaluation was found in the Berhampur office.
Sub-registrar Prabhat Kumar Sahu was arrested by vigilance
sleuths recently.

The government has suspended the sub-register and two
clerks.
