Berhampur: Ayurvedic treatments
like panchakarma therapy, body massage by special oils and
bone treatment will soon be introduced in Orissa.
The government would start these ancient types of
treatment in public-private partnership with some firms
operating in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Director of Medicines and
Homeopathy in Orissa, Parameswara Swain said today.
Although Panchakarma is a subject in the Ayurveda
colleges in the state, only one or two Ayurvedic hospitals
used this ancient method of treatment and the Oriyas were
depending on the southern region to get the therapies.
Auurvedic doctors claim while panchakarma therapy cure
diabetes, malaria and chronic headache, body massage and bone
treatment heal several types of pain, frozen shoulder and
cervical spondylosis among others.
The companies would also train Oriya youths on these
treatments so that they could set up their own units in the
state, he said.
