Probe into Orissa illegal mining starts next month

Panaji: Justice M B Shah Commission will
start inquiry into the illegal iron ore mining in Orissa from the next month, a senior member said here Friday.

U V Singh, a member of the Commission, told reporters that preparatory work had been already done.
"We will begin investigations there sometimes mid of next
month," he said, adding that the Goa illegal mining
investigations will have nothing to do with the Orissa probe.

"We may wait for Goa investigations to get over and if we
cannot complete it by then, we can even go mid-way and begin
our work in Orissa," he said.
Singh, an Indian Forest Service officer, said the same
team which is probing Goa mining would move to Orissa. Some
local officers would join them there.
