Three Maoists held in Odisha`s Kandhamal district

Braving the severe cold, security personnel arrested three Maoists during the last three days of combing operations in Odisha`s Kandhamal district.

Phulbani (Odisha): Braving the severe
cold, security personnel arrested three Maoists during the
last three days of combing operations in Odisha`s Kandhamal
district, police said.

The ultras were arrested during a joint combing
operation launched by CRPF, Cobra and elite SOG group
in Srirampur, Kotagoda, Daringibadi and Brahmanigaon areas.

The ultras were identified as Manmohan Pradhan,
Suneswar Balta Majhi and Peta Guduluka who were involved in
several acts of violence, Jaynarayan Pankaj, Superintendent of
Police, Kandhamal said.

All the arrested were being interrogated to get
further information about Maoist activities in the area, the
SP said.

He said the security personnel were conducting combing
operation in cold weather at Kotgarh and Daringbadi area where
mercury level fell to minus 2 degree Celsius in the last three
days.

Combing operations in the area has been intensified
following a landmine blast on Januaray 5 in which three
security personnel were killed and an equal number injured,
the SP said.
