Tribal shot dead by Maoists in Odisha

 Maoists gunned down a son of a woman sarpanch, suspecting him to be a police informer at Madakapadar in this district, police said today.

Malkangiri (Odisha): Maoists gunned down a son of a woman sarpanch, suspecting him to be a police informer at Madakapadar in this district, police said today.

A group of abut 20 armed ultras stormed into the village and took away Damu Sisa from his house last night and shot him dead. His body was found this morning.
Damu's mother is a village Sarpanch, while his father was a former sarpanch.

A poster found near the body stated that the Maoists killed him as he was operating as an informer of the police in the area, police said.

The message in the poster also warned the villagers that they must not assist the police or pass on any information to them, police officials said.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said additional police personnel had been sent to the site and security forces had intensified combing and patrolling in the area after the incident.
