Koraput (Orissa): A woman Maoist,
carrying a reward of Rs two lakh in neighbouring Andhra
Pradesh, surrendered before the police here on Wednesday.
Susila Jilakara alias Puspa, wife of arrested rebel
leader Chandra Bhusanam alias Ghasi, was carrying a cash
award of Rs 2 lakh in Andhra Pradesh, a top police officer
said.
Puspa, an area committee member of Orissa-Andhra
Border Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist), was suspected to be
involved in attacks on R Udaigiri jail, Nayagarh, Nalco mines
and in a gun-battle with security personnel in Kalimela,
Superintendent of Police Anup Kumar Sahoo said.
"After Ghasi`s arrest I was not being treated well in
the Maoist organisation and was not keeping well. I therefore
decided to give up arms," Puspa said.
Police said Puspa was a resident of Wankabadi village
under Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh and joined the
Maoists in 2005. She married Ghasi in 2010.
"Though she belongs to Andhra, Puspa will be
rehabilitated here as per the existing package meant for the
surrendered Maoists," the SP said.
