48-yr-old ASI dies in Punjab

Phagwara: A 48-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector of police died when he fell down to the road while trying to board a bus.

The deceased has been identified as Lal Chand, a resident of Mohalla Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, SBS Nagar, presently posted in Phagwara, police said.

The incident took place last night when Chand was trying to board a bus at a local bus stand here, police said, adding, he slipped and fell to his death.

He was rushed to Civil Hospital here where he was declared dead, police said.

Chand had remained incharge of Women Cell here, but was presently posted on duty in local courts.
