Chandigarh: Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday accused Congress of playing a dangerous game and supporting Khalistani elements in the state.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal labelled the Congress as an anti-national party and accused it of showing its “true colours”.

Badal said Congress leaders including its state chief recently shared the stage with groups, which have been demanding Khalistan, at a rally in Amritsar.

“Groups with which Congress leaders shared the stage have links with Pakistan and ISI,” he stated.

SAD has audio clip which proves Congress leaders were present at the rally, Badal added.

“Why does Rahul Gandhi want to bring back those dark days of the 1980s in Punjab?” he asked.

The Deputy CM later led a delegation of his party to President Pranab Mukherjee and asked him to declare the Congress an anti-national party.

Punjab Congress leaders are expected to hold a counter-press conference later in the day today.
