Cold conditions continued to persist in most parts of Punjab and Haryana with piercing chill sweeping Amritsar at 1.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Amritsar was the coldest place in the two states recording five degrees below normal minimum, the MeT Department said.
Ludhiana also shivered at 5 deg C, down five notches, while the minimum in Patiala settled at 5.6 deg C, four degrees below normal level.

In Haryana, Hisar was coldest at 4 deg C, down six notches, while Karnal and Bhiwani recorded the minimum temperature at 5.2 deg C each, Narnaul 6 deg C, Rohtak 7.1 deg C and Ambala 7.8 deg C.

The minimum temperature in the capital city Chandigarh settled at 7.6 deg C, down one degree.

The minimum temperatures in the region are expected to hover below normal level tomorrow also, according to the MeT here.
