Patiala: A special court in Punjab today
allowed Assembly Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon, facing a graft
case, to go abroad from September 5 to 21 to attend a
conference for parliamentarians at Nairobi from September 7.
The permission to Kahlon, who has been facing corruption
charges in the recruitment of 909 panchayat secretaries
between 1997 and 2002 when he was Rural Development Minister
in previous SAD government, was given by a CBI court.
Kahlon had appeared before the CBI court on August 14 and
the October 5 was fixed as next date for the hearing.
