Chandigarh: Enforcement Directorate official Niranjan Singh, who had interrogated Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia in connection with a drugs scam case, has been transferred to Kolkata.

Singh was transferred to Kolkata from Jalandhar, amid intense political heat over the case.

The ED had questioned Majithia on December 26 last year in connection with its probe into the alleged money laundering in the Rs 6,000-crore international drug racket case.

Majithia is the younger brother of Union minister Harsimrat Kaur and brother-in-law of deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The ED has already registered a criminal case in connection with the matter under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
