New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party on Friday said that former BJP parliamentarian Navjot Singh Sidhu's move of forming a political front in Punjab will have no effect on the party.

"There will be no effect on Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. They party will keep on with its work in Punjab," senior leader Durgesh Pathak said.

Interestingly, Pathak has played a key role in building the party in Punjab.

Sidhu had earlier in the morning floated a new political front 'Awaaz-e-Punjab' online - putting an end to all speculation of his joining the AAP.

Sidhu had resigned from the Rajya Sabha on July 18, sparking speculation that he may join the AAP.

AAP recently sacked its Punjab convenor Sucha Singh Chottepur from the post on corruption charges.

Hockey Olympian and Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal legislator Pargat Singh and two Independent legislators - Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains - have also joined hands with Sidhu.

The 'Awaaz-e-Punjab' - a political front not a party - will be formally launched next week in Chandigarh, party insiders said.
