Bill to empower transgenders in next Par session: Thawar Chand Gehlot

 The government on Saturday said that it would introduce a bill in the next session of Parliament to bring transgenders in the mainstream of the society.

Ballia: The government on Saturday said that it would introduce a bill in the next session of Parliament to bring transgenders in the mainstream of the society.

"In this bill, provisions would be made for transgenders to get facilities similar to the SC/ST, OBC and nomads in education and development sectors," Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot told reporters here.

He said that the Centre would take several steps to bring them in the mainstream and action would be taken from social security point of view.

The minister apprised that the Centre was seriously considering to constitute a board or council for transgenders at the national level.

Gehlot said that concrete measures were being taken for the umpliftment of the physically challenged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government was making efforts to groom the talent of physically challenged people and to ensure their contribution in country's development, he further said.
